Renaissance is an international photography competition where all funds raised go to support breast cancer, and which culminates in a one week exhibition in London.

By entering, you get the chance to have your work judged by some of the top names in photography, be exhibited in the prestigious Mall Galleries in the heart of London and win over £8,000 ($12,000) worth of prizes.

You'll also be donating to breast cancer as all of your entry fee is donated to the Lavender Trust at Breast Cancer Care.

Objective

The Renaissance Photography Prize is an international photography competition that accepts photo entries in the following categories:

  • Environment
  • Expression
  • Shape/Form
  • Motion
  • Time

Prizes

The 100 selected images will be exhibited in a one week public exhibition at the prestigious Mall Galleries in the heart of London. Of these 4 images in each of the five categories will be shortlisted for a prize.

All the shortlisted photographers will receive a double ticket to the celebrity private view and awards ceremony on 23 March 2011 at which the following prizes will be awarded:

  • Renaissance Prize 2011

    The overall Renaissance Prize 2011 winner will win:

    • £3,000 (approx. $4,800)
    • A development session with the Creative Director at Rhubarb Rhubarb who will give valuable advice on projects, editing, talking about your work, promoting yourself, potential contacts and which reviews to attend.
    • A place in the Rhubarb-Rhubarb Portfolio Promenade in London - July 2011. This is a unique opportunity to show your work to reviewers, international gallerists, potential buyers and the photo-interested public.
  • Category Prizes

    £500 for the winner in each of the 5 categories:

    • Environment
    • Expression
    • Shape/Form
    • Motion
    • Time
  • Calumet Prize for Best Film Entry

    The jury will select the best film entry. The winner of this prize will be awarded a Fuji GF670 medium format film camera donated by Calumet, worth £1,700.

Rules

  • The Renaissance Photography Prize is an international photography competition.
  • The Renaissance Photography Prize competition is open to professional and amateur photographers worldwide.
  • If you are under 16 you must have a parent or legal guardian's permission to enter.
  • You can enter as many images as you wish.
  • Entries may be taken using digital or film.
  • Entries may be in black and white or in colour.
  • Scans from film or prints are acceptable.
  • Entries will not be accepted by post or hand.

How to enter?

All entries, whether taken digitally or on film, must be submitted electronically through the competition's official website.

Entries must be JPEG files of no more than 1024 pixels on the longest side and not more than 1Mb in file size.

Entry fee

The cost of entering is:

  • £15 for a single entry
  • £25 for up to 3 entries
  • £40 for up to 6 entries
